In eases of Rheumatism, Lumbago, Sciatica, Gout, Skin Diseases, Nervous Exhaustion, and Disorders of the Digestive Organs, &c, the curative properties of these Springs axe beooming better known and realised, end there are numerous instances of a oourse of baths having proved effioaoious. The Springs are situated in the Amurl Country, 90 miles north of Christohurch. Visitors from Christohurch oan reach the Springs in a day. The first 70 miles is by rail to Culverden, and the last 20 by coach on a good road. There are two Bath-houses, containing baths, waiting rooms, &c, for the accommodation of visitors and patients, under the oare of a keeper and matron. The sum ot £2700 has been spent in providing these baths, buildings, &0., and planting and Improving the grounds surrounding them. ' There are Springs of hot and oold waters, and the same qualities and healing properties are to be found in both. Visitors and patients are increasing in number every year. For the twelve months ended last March over 6300 baths had been given. The prioe charged for a single bath Is Is, bat a rednotlon in the prioe is made on taking a number of tickets. At present there are two Aooommodatlon Houses, one at Jollies' Pass, two and a half miles from the baths, which oan provide for from 20 to 30 persons; and the other at Jack's Pass, with aooommodatlon for from 16 to 20 persons. The number of visitors now warrants more aooommodatlon, and before very long it it* probable a first-olass hotel will be erected within a short distance from the baths.
