A REMARKABLE LIBRARY.
Prince Joseph Lubomirski most certainly deserves notice as the owner of one of the most interesting libraries in Europe. On its shelves there are fully a thousand volumes, and they are all presentation copies apparently. On the title page of the' Nouvelle HeHoise' one finds ;' To my old comrade Lubomirski. J. J. Rousseau.' In ' Childe Harold' appears : 'To Prince Lubomirski. An offering of admiration from Byron.' Again, the following is found on the title page of the ' Hunchback of Notre Dame' : ' All men love heroes whom they admire. To one of my heroes, Joseph Lubomirski, I dedicate this work. Victor Hugo.' sends, ' to my eccellent friend, Lubomirski, this first copy of ' Tartuffe.' And actually there is a volume in which you my see : *To you, my dear Joseph, I dedicate the •• Cid." Corneille.' It only remains to be added that these inscriptions arc all in Lubomirski's handwriting, yet he positively takes pride in showing the library to his friends—or did until one day he found a copy of the ' Pentateuch,' in which some visitors had written, 'a token of esteem to my old 6ehoolmate,Lubirski, Mom'
