The Helensburgh miners have struck against a reduction in the rates for hewing, and it is expected that others in the southern portion of the colony will follow their example. Sydney, February 18. An important mining deoision has been given in Newcastle, where a miner sued the Miners’ Association to reoover strike pay. A vordiot was given for tho plaintiff, the Court bolding that he had the right to recover when he had been ordered to cease work. Other men intend to demand the payment of arrears. Sydney, February 20, The miners in |the Metropolitan Colliery, Clifton, have struck against a reduction in the hewing rates. London, February 17. Tho difficulty between the miners and mine.owners of South Wales has been Bottled amicably.
