CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATIONS.
RESULTS. The results of the Senior Civil Service examination which took place at the various centres in the Colony from the 9ih to 18th January last were published on Monday. The total number of senior candidates who presented themselves for competition was 65, of whom four went up to complete their examination. The results are as follows : Passed with distinction—Geo. Edward Matthews, Wellington; John Meenan, Dunedin; Claude Houghton Mills, Blenheim ; Frank Oxford, Auckland ; Robt. John Riley, Christchurch ; Thos. Illingworth Robinson, Wanganui ; Horace Wm. Anderson, Greymoutb, passed examination in shorthand. JUNIOR RESULTS. A total of 230 junior candidates were examined, of whom 129 passed. Under tho Civil Service Reform Aot, 1886, the list of passes has to be arrauged iu order of merit, and employment in the service must be offered in that order when available.
