OTAGO CENTRAL RAILWAY.

(PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, July 19. A well attended meeting was held to-night in the City Hall, under the auspices of the Trades and Labour Council, at which » series of resolutions were carried, to the following effect :—l. Sympathy with the efforts of the League formed to push on the construction of the Otago Central Railway, 2. That not only in the interest* of labour, but also in the interests of all the residents of the Provincial district as well as for the benefit of the whole Colony, the completion of the Otago Central Railway is a work which should no longer be delayed. (3) That in the opinion of this meeting satisfactory and permanent provision ought to be made for the con* atruction of the line by setting aside for the payment of interest and sinking funds half of the revenue received by the Colony from the Crown lands in the district through which it has been surveyed, the capital amount to b 3 advanced by Borne Government department. (4) This meeting pledges itself to do all in its power to push on the work. The resolutions are to be forwarded to the Minister of Public Works and all tho Otago members, who are to be urged to us© their beit endeavours to give effect to the same. The speakers to the motions were all unanimous Unionists, with oue exception.
