Youatt mentions it as having been no uncommon occurrence to carry to market a pony in the space below the seat of a Scotch gig- At the present time the Shah of Persia is the owner of a Shetland pony which is but high. This royal pet wears gold shoes worth 4 gs. each. A wonderful little animal, the ‘ Sheltio.’ He is verily the pet pit horse.
