Lord Lansdowne, Viceroy of India, states that the harvest prospects are veVy gloomy iu Rajputana, Madras, Hyderabad, and parts of Bombay and Bengal, though at present only 60,000 persons are receiving public relief. At the same time he considers India was never stronger to repel oxternal attacks. Calcutta, December 3. Lord Lansdo jrne declares that it is not intended to push the opium traffic for the sake of the revenue.
