THE R.M.S. lONIC, FROM LONDON. The R.M.S. lonic, Commander Jennings, from London, via the usual way ports arrived here early on Sunday morning. She left the Royal Albert Docks at 3.3 pm on July 10. Fine weather was met with on the run to Plymouth, which was at 4.30 pm on July 11.. and left same day at 6.30 pm. Had light NW breezes and fine weather across the Bay of Biscay, and from thence to Tenerifie light airs. Arrived at Teneriffe at 12.30 am on July 16, and sailed again at 10.30 am same day. Picked up the NE trades the following day. The trades were very light and soon gave out. The line was crossed on July 22, in long lOdeg 1 W. The SE trades were encountered in lat.

Odeg N. They were at first moderate, but gradually increased in strength, until the day before reaching Capetown they blew with the force of a gale. Arrived at Capetown at 10. In iru on July 31. Sailed again at 3.6 pm same day. Light NW winds and foggy weather was met with until reaching the meridian of oudeg E long. Here she fell in with prevailing westerlies. They blew with moderate strength, and continued for the remainder of the run across the Southern Ocean. On August 12 she experienced the heaviest blow of the voyage, when aSW gale was encountered. On August 14 crossed the meridian of Cape Leeuwni. JJ tom thence to Hobart had light variable winds and fine weather. Arrived at Hobart at 1-28 pin on August IS, and left the following day at 3.15 am after landing 50 passengers and a quantity of cargo. For the first two days after leaving Hobart she had SW winds and squally weather; afterwards variable winds and fine weather. Passed Cape Farewell at 5 pm on the 22nd and anchored in port at 4.38 am the following day. The names of her passengers will be found above.
