The ss Rowena, which was chartered by a syndicate for the purpose of searching the wrecks of the Koranui and Rangitoto at the French Pass and Jackson’s Head for salvage, returned to port early on Sunday morning. The trip, unfortunately, has proved a profitless one. The ICoranui is completely broken up, and nothing of any value could be saved from her. The divers who accompanied the steamer failed to discover a vestige of the Rangitoto. The trip occupied fifteen days. R.M.S. COPTIC, FROM LONDON. The Shaw Savill and Albion Co.’s R.M.S. Coptic, Captain Kempson, from London via Plymouth, Teneriffe, Capetown, and Hobart, arrived in port at 7.30 am on Wednesday. She left London at 3,50 pm on June 11th, experienced light easterly winds down the Channel, and arrived at Plymouth on the 12th. Left again at 1.23 pm next day. Light variable winds were met with to Teneriffe, which was reached at 6.48 am on the 18th. Moved on at 2.2 L pm. and had the usual trade winds, and arrived off Table Bay at 8 pm on the 4th July, but owing to a heavy fog she did not enter the port until nntil next morning at 7.50. Sailed again at 2 pm, and experienced westerly winds until the 22nd, when light variable winds and smooth sea were met with until arrival at Hobart at 2.30 am on Friday last. After landing 34 passengers, 8 packages mails, and about 200 tons cargo, and taking in a quantity of coal, she left for New Zealand with 53 passengers and a fuff complement of cargo. During the run from Hobart light easterly winds were experienced. The entertainments were not so numerous as on previous voyages owing to the small complement of of passengers. Several changes have taken place in her officers since she was last here. Mr G Wright is now chief officer, and Mr J. M. Cables fourth ; Dr W. 11. Murray, surgeon ; and Mr W. S. Imnan, purser. The names of her Wellington passengers will be found above. THE BARQUE ORELLANA, FROM LIVERPOOL. The barque Orellana, 866 tons, Captain Gibb, arrived from Liverpool on Wednesday, after a passage of 105 days. She left on the lath April, and had fine weather to the Equator, which was crossed on May _lsth. J--* 16 hne weather continued until passing the Cape, on the 18th June; thence until July 3rd she experienced strong northerly gales. At midnight on the 3rd the wind blew with hurricane force, accompanied by tremendous seas. During the gale the decks and cabin were constantly flooded, but no damage was done. Oil bags were put over the stern, and they had a good effect. Strong N.W. and S.W. gales were encountered until passing Tasmania, on the loth July ; thence light northerly winds till arriving off the Heads Wednesday morning. She brings a large cargo for Wellington and Dunedin. Messrs Johnston and Co aro agents for her.
