THE DUNEDIN UNEMPLOYED.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, April 15. A meeting was held in the Totvn Hall today, at which most of the city and suburban members were present, in addition to a number of representative men. The following resolutions were passed:—“That it is absolutely necessary in order to develop the interests of Central Otago and Dunedin, that the Otago Central Railway shonld be extended at the earliest possible date. That as there are at present in the district a large number of unemployed men. this work presents the readiest and most profitable means for their employment. That as the extension of the railway will promote the settlement of a large area of Crown lands, several blocks of which would shortly be offered for sale, the work will be immediately reproductive as well as calculated to afford immediate employment to the unemployed. That in view of the present labour difficulty the Government shonld anticipate the vote of Parliament and at once proceed witn the earthwork of portion of the Otago Central.” The resolutions arß to ba forwarded to the Government.
