Late Shipping.

ARRIVAL OF THE RIMUTAKA. The R.M.S. Rimutaka, from London, via Hobart, passed Cape Farewell at 10.15 .am on Wednesday and dropped anchor in Wellington harbour at 7 pm. It being too dark for the Health Officer to inspect the vessel none of the passengers left the ship. The mails were brought ashore by the steamer Mana, and the Rimutaka was berthed at 7 o’clock yesterday morning. The following is a report of her voyage : Left London on Friday, 6th February, but was detained while in the Channel by dense fog, which prevented her arriving at Plymouth until Monday, the 9fch February, at 2.20 pin. Left Plymouth at 9 pm, having on board 1920 tons cargo, 252 bags mails,. 21 boxes parcel post, and 113 passengers, viz.—4S saloon, 21 second saloon, and 44 steerage ; and proceeded to Teneriffe, which port was reached at 9.50 am on the 14th February. After a stay of eight hours, continued the journey, and arrived at Capetown at 6.40 am on the 2nd March. For the purpose of giving passengers a run on shore a stoppage of six hours was made. Hobart, the next port of call, was reached on. the 21st of March. Landed 27 passengers and 280 tons cargo, and arrived at Wellington as above. Although the complement of passengers was rather small the voyage has been a most pleasant one, and the usual amusements were entered into with a zest which proved that everyone wanted to make the most of the voyage and enjoy themselves to the best of their ability. Athletic sports, concerts, theatricals, dances, and Christy minstrels have assisted to pass the time most enjoyably. There were also quoit and tennis tournaments, and the voyage finished up with a fancy dress ball. Divine service has been held. every Sunday, the Rev Mr Lewis officiating. Two deaths occurred during the voyage, viz., C. H. Lovett, A. 8., andW. Findlow, second cook. The following is a list of her passengers— Saloon : Misses Hunt (3), Mrs Dunn, Mr and Mrs L. Marshall, Mrs S. A. Rhodes, Dr Faulkner, Commodore Lord, TT.S. Navy, Messrs Paroom, Pulleyrn. Graham, and Tunstall ; second saloon—Mrs Williams and daughter ; steerage—Mrs E, E. Collins, Messrs England, Harris, Mortenson, Porter, Reeves, Korrison, and Wigg.
