THE MINISTER OF MINES.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Reepton, March 24.

The Hon R. Seddon last evening visited the School of Mines, and addressing the audience stated he should recommend the Government, after providing for a lecturer, to subsidise the institution in an amount equal to the sums subscribed by the public for that purpose. Mr Seddon was afterwards entertained afc a banquet, when between sixty and seventy persons were present. He briefly outlined the intended policy of the Ministry. Various sneakers referred to the confidence which the Governmeut policy inspired, and said it was in complete touch with the large body of the taxnayers. The County Chairman presided. Mr Seddon expressed the pleasure he felt afc the reception he had received, and assured the company that his colleagues would learn with gratification that their policy proposals were reoeived so favourably. The Minister left for Greymouth this morning.
