Mr James Campbell, of Courtenay place, has presented a cup for competition amongst the olubs not affiliated to the Rugby Union, and a mooting of delegates from the various clubs is to be held shortly, when the necessary arrangements for competition will be made. Mr Campbell deserves the thanks of every footballer for the way he Is endeavouring to foster the game among the many young players in this city. A presentation was made on Friday night to Mr Harry L. Hall (who is about to take his departure for Sydney) by the members of the Carlton Football Club, of which he was the founder. The presentation took the form of a gold maltose cross suitably inscribed. Mr C. Nicholls, in making the presentation, spoke in high terms of the services rendered to the Club by Mr Hall. The recipient, in a neat little speech, thanked the members for their generosity. After drinking Mr Hall’s health in bumpers, the proceedings terminated. Members of the Athletie, Melrose, Oriental, and Poneke Clnbs had a practice game at the Newtown Park on Saturday. Several of the players showing good form. TheSelwyns defeated a team of all-oomers at their paddock in Hobson street on Saturday, by eight points to nil. Tries were obtained by A. Curtis, Oswin, H. Samnels, and Whitehonse, two of the tries being converted by G. Curtis. Thomas, the lata “amok” three-quarter back of the Melrose Club, is now located at Oamaru, and during this season will play lor that town. It is understood that P. Keogh, the wellknown three-quarter-baok of the Kaikorai Club, in Dunedin, will be coming to this city shortly, and in all probability will throw in his lot with the Petone Club;

A large attendance of members was present at the annual meeting of the Rover Association Football Club, held at the Royal Oak Hotel Monday night, Mr A. E. Gibbes occupying the chair. The annual report, which was presented and adopted unanimously, showed the first fifteen had come out with good results in all the matches, that the Club had been engaged in last season. The “International” game played last Queen’s Birthday proved to be the most interesting matoh the Club was engaged in. The games with the Petone Club resulted in a win and a loss. The Association Clubs were to be congratulated in their first Interprovincial matoh with Canterbury, being only beaten by two goals, after a wellcontested game. T he finances of the Club are In a sound condition, and as several interesting matches are to be played this season members of the Club are requested to go into aotive training at once. Tho following were elected office-bearers of the Club for the ensuing season :—President, Dr Gillon (re elected) ; Vice-Presidents, Messrs A. S. Patterson and A. E. Gibbes ; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr A. Henderson (re-eleoted) ; Captain, Mr T. Shields (re-eleoted); ViceCaptain, Mr R. Forrest (re-eleoted), Management Committee, Messrs Cutler, Day, and Leslie, with the officers of the Club (ex officio) ; Matoh Committee, Messrs Day and Leslie, and the Captain, Vice-Captain, and the Secretary (ex offioio) ; Delegates to the Association, Messrs Day, Leslie, and Henderson. A match, Married v. Single, will be piayed this season, as several of the members have lately joined the Benedicts. A vote of thanks to the Chairman brought a most enthusiastic meeting to a close. The annual meeting of the Queen a Park Association Football Club was held at--the Royal Oak Hotel Tuesday evening. A large attendance of members were present. On the motion of Mr Brown, seconded by Mr |J. R. Gibbons, Mr A. Henderson was voted to the chair. As the Club only started late last season, no report was presented to the meeting, but the balance-sheet showed the finances to be on the right Bide to the amount of £1 13s 6d. The following officers were eleoted for the ensuing season :—President, Mr T. K. Macdonald, M.H.R, ; VicePresident, Mr G. H. Hinton (re-eleoted); Secretary, Mr M. Brown; Treasurer, Mr J. R. Gibbons (re-eleoted) ; Management Committee, Messrs A. Balllngall, W. G. Hughes, and A. Wilson, with the officers of the _Clnb ex officio (re-elected); Match Committee, Messrs W. E. Hughes and J. Kean, the captain and vice-captain ex officio (reeleoted) ; Delegates to the Association, Messrs A. BaUiogall, W. Brown, and J. R.

Gibbons. The offices of captain and vioaoaptain ,vere left in the hands of the Management Committee. On the motion of Mr W. Brown, seconded by Mr A. Baffingall, the meeting decided not to join the Sports Protection Association. Mr A. Henderson was entrusted to secure a suitable ground for the Clnh during the coming season. A vote'of thanks to the retiring officers and to the chairman terminated the meeting. The Carlton Football Club, at a meeting held at the White Swan Hotel on Wednesday decided to continue the game during the coming season, as it will be remembered at a former meeting the members had decided to disband. The following were elected office-bearers of the Club for the ensuing season :—Captain, Mr E. Earth ; ViceCaptain, Mr P. O’Shea; Management Committee, Messrs S. Jansen, C. Nioholls, and H. Porter ; Match Committee, same as the Management Committee ; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr W. H. Reeve; Delegates to the Junior Association, Messrs P. O’Shea, C. Nicholls and W. H. Reeve. Daring the evening six new members were elected to the Club, and Mr H. L. Hall was elected a life member. The members were requested to go Into active training at once, and the first game will be played at the Railway Reserve next Saturday afternoon. A vote of thanks to the Chairman, Mr H. L. Hall, concluded the meeting. As the members of the Oriental Football Club are unable to get away at Easter, the matoh which was to have been played with the Albion Club, of Nelson, has fallen through.
