Professor Liebrich has explained to the Berlin Medical Society that his tuberculosis remedy is a solution of cautheridate potass, and is safer and more effective than that discovered by Professor Koch. Paris, February 26. Dr Bernheim, of Paris, claims to have effected wonderful cures in tuberculosis by transfusion of goat’s blood. St. Petersburg, February 28. It is stated that the authorities have prohibited the use of Koch tuberculin© owing to the number of patients that haie succumbed while under treatment. Adelaide, February 27Dr J. W. Springthorp, of the University of Melbourne, and of Melbourne Hospital, who was specially commissioned by the Victorian Government to visit Berlin for the purpose of studying and reporting on Dr Koch’s remedy, arrived here from London yesterday. In the course of an interview he declared that Dr Koch’s lymph was infinitely the best that had yet been discovered for the treatment of tubercle, and the only question was as to experience and the class of cases likely to derive most benefit from it. Melbourne, February 27. Several physicians consider that Dr O’Hara’s typhoid cure is nothing more or less than brewers’ yeast, and they state that the latter growing in its own pet malt will eat out the bacilli, but there is no reasonable inference that it will do so in the intestinal portions of the body. Sydney, February 28. Experiments are being carried on to ascertain whether tuberculosis is communicable from one animal to another.
