DUNEDIN ART GALLERY.

(PER press association.) Dunedin, November 20. At a meeting of subscribers to the Public Art Gallery Mr B. C. Haggitfc, the Chairman stated that it was proposed to open the gallery on the 27th instant £565 was raised by subscriptions, with which four pictures from the Exhibition were purchased. The Otago Art Society gave pic* tures to the value of £l5O for disposal by art union, to ereot a building. Eight pictures, including “The Adoration of the Magi,” besides some other pictures left for Bale, were lent to the gallery until sold, and the various firms had given goods for the fitting up of the gallery. A committee was appointed to have control of the gallery, and it was decided to make a permanent record of the assistance given by the subscribers and others in founding the gallery.
