The small toe In man ha« often but two owing to the laat two bones forming i»ta one pieoe. The phenomenon, according S the researches to Herr Pfitzner, ocoura more frequently among woman than men. Tk W found in 31 per cent, of the male * and 41£ per cent, of the female ’ Bat it is not confined to adults, and ie about as common in ohlldren. - Herr Pfitzner doea not, therefore, think it due to wearing •hoes but to a natural degeneration ol the tilth toe, and it is yet uncertain whether this degeneration will- end in its praotioal disappearance from the human foot.
