THE KERMADECS.

A FAILURE. (pep. press association.) Auckland, November 26. Arrived—Hinemoa, from Sunday Island and the Kermadec Gioup. She brings back ten settlers from Sunday Island, who report that the settlement ia a total failure, and regret ever having gone there. They were almost starving at times during the winter and subsisted principally on mutton birds. Mr Hovel, the promoter of the settlement, has returned disgusted with the Kermadecs. It is said the Bell family will also leave the island before long. One family of settlere remain. No wreokage or shipwrecked people were found on the Kermadecs. Later. The remainder of those settlers who left for Sunday Island, in the Kermadec group, by the schooner Dunedin last year, retained to Auokland by the Hinemoa to-day, with the exception of Mr and Mrs Carver and Mr and Mrs Robson, who are still at the Island.
