A PERTINENT REPLY.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir, —T suppose the reason . why “lawyers without any knowledge of engineering science” are allowed to practice as patent agents is that all that is required of a patent agent is a knowledge of the patents, designs, and Trademarks Act and rules. If engineering science is required in a patent case expert evidence is called as in maritime cases, or any others of a special nature. lu order to qualify as a patent agent did Mr Hugheß pass any examination in engineering science, or only knowledge of the statute? —I am, &c., A Lawyer.
