In this, the first issue of the Mail under the new proprietary, it is necessary to say a few words to our readers. The Mail appears this week in its old form, and the subscribers may ask themselves if any change in its columns is to be expected, and’if so, when ? Briefly, then, it is the intention of the proprietor to shortly make considerable alteration in the columns of the Mail, alterations that will, we have confidence, be accepted at once as great improvements. But just now our hands are full with the more pressing demands made upon us by the task of reconstructing the daily journal, of which the Mail is the weekly representative, during a busy session of Parliament. At present that work demands all our energies and attention, and for a few weeks, we must claim on that account the indulgence of the Mail s subscribers.
