ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Onslow Borough Council was held in the Temperance Hall, Kaiwhara, on Wednesday. Present —His Worship the Mayor and Councillors Holmes, Cameron, Nairn, Clark, Bergin, and Cook. A deputation consisting of Messrs Carson and White, residents of Khandallah, waited on the Council with reference to the formation of the school road, and it was resolved that the work as requested be carried out. Communications were received from Messrs Levin and Co., W. and G. Turnbull and Co., and Nathan a-.d. Co. with regard to the payment of fees for the right of erecting kerosene stores within the boundaries of the borough. It wa3 resolved that the respective firms be called upon to pay £lO per annum for the right. A. letter was received from Mr W. Cook, asking that a former resolution with reference to the incorporation of the Joh.jsonville town district and other areas Into the borough be so amended as to include JohnßOnville district only. It was resolved that the resolution be amended in terms of Mr Cook’s letter. A letter was also received from the manager of the Gas Company with reference to the supply of gas to the town ship of Kaiwhara. Acknowledged. Councillor Cook moved his notice of motion in reference to the streets st Wade town. It was resolved that the ratepayers in Hanover and Wades streets and School road be com municated with, asking what they were prepared to do in order to make the streets in question legal ones. Councillor Clark moved his resolution in reference to the future maintenance of roads and streets within the borough, and in connection therewith it was resolved that st ns be at once taken to obtain specifications and estimates as to the probable cost for. the maintenance of Wadestown, old Porirua, and Hutt roads. It was agreed that tenders be oailed for cracking and supplying 200 yards of read metal. It was resolvad that the Auditor-General be communicated with in regard to the adjustment of accoon s between the TTntt County Couneil. W ellington District Road Board, and B.irough of Onslow.
