THE “SWEATING” COMMISSION.

1n pursuance of a promise given last session, the Government have appointed a Commission to inquire into

“sweating” alleged to be carried on in Dunedin and other-parts of the Colony. The Commission consists of the following gentlemen :—Mr T. Thompson, M.H.R., and Mr E. Cherry, Auckland ; Mr J. R. Blair and Mr D. P. Fisher, Wellington ; Mr F. E. Wright and Mr F. Jones, M.H.R., Christchurch ; the Rev R. Waddell, Mr Colin Allan, and Mr J. Fulton, M.H.R., Dunedin. Mr Fulton will be Chairman of the Commission, which will begin its sitting at Dunedin next week.
