REEFTON MINING.

[from our own correspondent.] Reefton, January 16. A tolerable demand took place to-day for Golden leads, at prices slightly in advance of former quotations, i.e., from Is 3§a to Is 4d. The winding engine and gear for the Inkerman has been landed on the ground, the water in the mine having accumulated to such an extent during the holidays that some days will elapse before regular working will set in. Several parties visited the Painkiller yesterday, and were well satisfied with the quality of stone at present obtained, but owing to the little work absolutely done, no accurate opinion as to its extent can as yet be formed. No meeting of the Mining Exchange has yet taken place. i s “ ' ’ •' Reefton, January 18. Battery returns :—Progress, 1420 z for the week ; Inglewood, 7506 z amalgam from 50 tons. -. ... ~ j, .
