CRIMINAL LIBEL.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, January 22. The proprietors of the Auckland weekly newspapers, the Observer and Free Lance
(Messrs T.. L. Kelly and H. J. Baulf) were committed for trial at the Police Court today, before Dr Giles, R. M., for alleged criminal libel on Thomas Mace Humphrej r s, a local solicitor. The libel consisted in certain paragraphs in the paper alleged to refer to Humphrey’s private character.
