AUCKLAND JUBILEE.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, January 10. The Jubilee Regatta Committee have requested the Foreign Consuls in Auckland to use their good offices to secure attendance in Auckland harbour during the Jubilee week of any foreign warships dow in Australasian waters. Mr Brown, the German Consul, has written to the commander of the cruiser Alexandrine, now in Samoa, recommending him to bring his vessel to Auckland. The French warship Sctone and another vessel now at Noumea are also expected to visit this harbour during the week. Auckland, January 12. An order has been received declining to grant permission to the Volunteers to take part in the Jubilee demonstration. A strong protest against this resolution is to be made. The friendly societies, fire brigades, and salvage corps are to assist in the procession on the 29th instant, and members of many country branches of the friendly societies will join with the Auckland lodges in the celebration. January 14. A meeting of the Jubilee committeo was held to-night, when a suggestion was made that in order to commemorate the celebration a grove of kauri trees should be planted in an obelisk erected in a prominent part of the city, or a medal struck, and consideration of the proposals was deferred. A Roception Committee was appointed to meet the Governor and party on their arrival in Auckland. Further donations to the amount of £22 have been collected during the week, and a number of trophies as prizes were received. It is feared that the proposed horticultural show will have to be abandoned, but decision was deferred.
