Tee Midland Railway. -—The fourth annual meeting of the New Zealand Midland Railway Company was held at the offices of the Company in London, on November 29th. Mr T. Salt presided, and in moving the adoption of the report said that they Ware making substantial progress, and within the last few months had been able to raise a very substantial amount of money toward the further construction of the lino. The money raised on debentures wouid be secured bv the building of the railway, and by the land which the Company would thus earn. He believed that when the lino was constructed and the lands property developed, either security would be ample for the clebenture.holderß. They were entering into contracts to extend the railway fr-'in Branncrton to Reef ton. A small part of the line wao already open, and contracts were ties <<j let for the full length, which was about 40 or 45 miles. The report was adopted, and the retiring Directors and auditors! reelected.
