LAND BOARD.

4.n ordinary meeting of the Land Board was held yesterday. There were present—Messrs J. W. A. Mai chant (Commissioner, in the chair), W. McCardle, W. A. Fitzherbert, and H. Bunny. The Under-Secretary for Crown Lands notified that Mr I). H. Macarthur had been reappointed a member of the Board. The application of Mr S. Dawson that the transfer of Section 33, Block 1., Mangaone, from his daughter to his wife should not be advertised, was agreed to, as was also the application cf Mr W. J. Corriford to be allowed to transfer Section 51, Block Ilf. and IV. Pohangina, to himself and T. C. and J R. Cornford. Mr J. C. Thompson w- s allowed permission to transfer Section 1, Block X., Apit.i, to Mr J. Jones. A list of extensions, capitalisations, and transfers, which have been applied for since the la3t meeting, was laid b- fore the Board as follows : Extensions, 16— Dunstall, Section 50, Block V., Mangaone, W. N. Miller ; sections 13 and 14, Block V., M ilcuri ; Sec ion 21, Block XI., Mangahao, J. Partridge. Capitalisations : Section 2. Block 111 , Apiti, M. A. Transfers —Section 14, Block IV., Apiti, J. Costigan to J. Nixon ; Sec tion 22, Block XLV., Pohangina. A. Reeve to E. Hunt; Section 9, Block X., Mangahone, F. Hill to F. Rouse; Sections 21 and 22, Mangaone, L. B mrke to D. Bonrke. A schedule of selectors who had been given till next autumn to complete their improvements was read and confirmed. The Commissioners laid on the table a return of applcalions received for the purchase or lease of Crown lands from the 19th December to the 9bh January, 1890, which showed that during that time 97,888 i 2r 35p hal been disposed of at the upset price of LBB 692 133 4d. Mr J. C. Thompson was allowed permission to transfer Section 1, Block X., Apiti, to J. Jones. The application of Mr A. P. Mason, to transfer Section 55, Block 1., Makuri, to Mr D. Reichenback, was refused for the present. The application of Mr D. Mackay for permission to take Mr W. Charley in as a partner In Section 1, Block 11. and XV., Tiriraukawa, was approved. Mr H. Jolly and Miss E Jolly applied for permission to transfer sections I, 3,4, 6,8, and 10, Block XV., Ongo, to Messrs A. Friedrich and M. Hultown. —Refused. It was resolved to aliow the selector of Section 2, Block VIL, Tararua, till next autumn to complete his improvements. A similar concession was allowed to the selector of Section 16, Block VII., Tararua. The Commissioner submitted a schedule of selectors who have held over six years anil not completed the necessary improvements. It was resolved to call upon those in arrear to show cause why their interests be not forfeited. The Eketahuna Road Board forwarded plans and schedule of works completed and proposed on the Park ville Block in connection with the loan of L3OOO raised under the Loans and Local Bodies Act, and requested the Board to give a certificate in terms of the Act. It was moved that the Board approve the expenditure, and will grant a certificate on the Board being satisfied that the roads are comoleled as required by the Act. The Waitubana-Momohaki Road Board forwarded plans and proposals for extending thirds accrued from sections in their district. —Approved. Mr E. J. Gothard wrote stating that he had no': been able to deliver the title addressed to G. Peebles with regard to the forfeiture of Section 28, Block X , Mangahao. Ic was resolved to obtain an explanation without farther delay, otherwise action would be at once taken. Mr J. Prouse wrote again explaining why he had not effected improvements on Sections 31 and 33, BlockL, Waiopehu, and asked that his application for time to effect them be reconsidered. It was resolved to give him till next autumn to effect the required improvements. The Under-Secretary for Crown Lands wrote stating that it is not possible to offer Sections 129 and 133, Block 111., Mangahao, for sale at the same time as the timber is offered. It was resolved to offer the timber at ICh per tree, and to give the purchaser five years in which to remove it. He also forwarded a communication from Mr G. Hutchison, M.H R., with reference to a supposed transfer of pastoral licenses Nos. Marshall’s application for Crown land at Crull’s clearing, ic was resolved to offer it for cash at 20s per acre, weighted with L 157 10s for improvements effected, subject to the payment of LBO rent due to the Crown. It was r<r3olved to offer sections in the village of Marshall on the village settlement conditions, with choice of tenures at schedule prices, fixed by the Commissioner. Mr J. Meehan applied for Section Block XL, Apiti, and it was resolved to offer the land for sale for choice of tenure at 37s 6d per acre. It was resolved to offer section 132, Block 33, Mangaone, for selection as a small ran at the original rental, weighted with L 23. value of improvement. Ic was resolved to offer the following forfeited perpetual lease and deferred payment sections : —Section 15, Block XII., Apiti, 20 s acre; Section 3, Block XIV., Tararua, 20s acre ; Section 35. Block X.. Pohangina, 20s acre; Section 27, Block X., Pohangina, 20j acre. It was resolved to approve the transfer of Section 204, Block 12, Mangaone, from W. Murdoch to J. Jones, provided that confirmation of statements made be sup. pfied. The Board then adjourned.
