Ireland recently sent 10,000 tons of bacon to Paris. In Paris goats are milked on the street for customers. There is a growing demand in England for human skin leather. In Sweden a new elevator loads a 2,500 ton vessel with iron ore in a day. The author of ‘Listen to the Mocking Bird ’ has made £20,000 by that one effort. In 1883 1,356 persons died of delirinm tremens in England. Camphor is offensive to mice, and will keep them away from places where it is scattered about. Eighteen tons of steel disappear daily on the single system of the London and North western Railway, through wear and rust. Soap was first made in 1524 ; previous to that time the unwashed had everything their own way. One of the city’s suburbs near Buenos Ayres is inhabited almost exclusively by English. At Tarrytown, N.
