HEAVY RAINFALL.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Greymouth, September 3. There was very heavy rain last night, and to-day looks like continuing. A message from Brunner this evening states that the river is rising rapidly, and a flood is expected. The river is beginning to rise here. s Nelson, September 3. Heavy rain set in this afternoon, after a long spell of fine weather. The farmers were feeling the want of rain badly. Hokitika, September 3. Very heavy rain fell last night and to-day, and the water supply for mining, which before was very meagre, is now ample. The rivers are not much flooded. It is supposed the rain is not warm enough to melt the snow.
