The churchwardens’ report for the past year disclosed a very satisfactory state of affairs. The total offertories of the year amounted to over L 166. July 17. I greatly regret having to report the death of Mr John Staples, of the firm of W. and J. Staples, boot manufacturers, of Wellington, which took place at Feilding last evening after a .very short illness. The deceased gentleman, who travelled as the representative of the firm of which he was a member, was well-known, and had many friends in the district.
