Resident Magistrate’s Court. —At the Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before Messrs R. C. Shearman, W. Seed, and J. Saunders, Justices, the two lads, John Chisholm and James McGonagle, who were arrested on Wednesday afternoon by Con. stable Carroll on a charge of having stolen two : books valued at 3s, the property of F. Whittaker, were brought up. Both the lads pleaded guilty, and the Bench ordered them to receive six strokes with a birch rod.
