Ministers disclaim the intention imputed to tlieni of appointing a batch of new Legislative Councillors. This old canard seems to crop up regularly about twice a year, but the advent of the long and oftforetold new Councillors is still indefinitely postponed. The longer the better. No additional Councillors will he required for some years to come unless the Council’s ranks should be unexpectedly thinned by a wholesale massacre or by some epidemic of abnormal fatality.
