ART EXAMINATION OF THE SCHOOL OF DESIGN.

The results of the recent examination of the School of Design are now made public. There was a total of 193 candidates examined, and of these no fewer than 128 obtained passes. The total number of papers 1 issued was 343, subdivided as follows : First grade —Freehand, 5 ; model, 9. Second grade —Blackboard, 53 ; freehand, 54 ; model, 85 ; geometrical, 50 ; perspective, 37. Third grade —Cast, 17 ; model, 17 ; geometry, 4 ; perspective, 3 ; painting, 9. The total number of passes was 189, as follows First grade, 11 ; second grade, 147 ; third grade, 31.
