[By Telegraph.] (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Westport, December 20. The member for the district while in Weilington urged upon the Government the desirableness of immediately undertaking the construction of 300 chains of railway to connect the present Government line with the proposed line of the Westport-Ngakawau Company. The weather has again set in bad. To-day at the annual meeting of tho Harboar Board Mr Martin was re-elected Chair, man. The Chairman and Treasurer were authorised to Bign debentures amounting to £13,500, exclusive of £56,500 already authorised to be signed. At the mayoral installation Mr Suisted showed that when he took the office over the Borough’s overdraft was £3400, and it is now £IO4O.

Westport, December 25. A large number of people are in town for the holidays. Shipping movements were resumed this afternoon. The Aorere, with the Brunnerton band (who are entered for the Denniston band content), arrived, and tbe Kennedy left, and the Moa, which was unable to enter Greymouth, is still in port.
