NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR ROWING ASSOCIATION. A special meeting of the above Association was held at the Star Boating Club’s sheds last Friday. The following delegates were present :—Messrs A. G. Johnson (Chairman) and A. W. Brown, Wellington Rowing Club ; A. de B. Brandon, J. M. King, and M. Barnett, Star Boating Club ; J. Rickman, Wakatu Club (Nekon); E. Jaokson, Nelson Rowing Club; C. V. Powell and P. Sim, Wanganui Rowing Club; W. Rodwell, Union Club (Wanganui) ; W. H. Tylee, Napier Rowing Club ; L. Tripp, Canterbury Rowing Club (Christchurch) ; A. S. Biss, Blenheim and Poverty Bay Rowing Clubs ; and _H. McCardel, Union Rowing Club (Christchurch). The Chairman stated that an apology had been received from the President of the Association (Mr J. O. Jones, of Christchurch) regretting that he was unable to be present. Two clubs, viz., the Union Club of Christchurch and the Poverty Bay Club of Gisborne were eleofced to the Association. It was decided to have the annual meeting of the Association - held in Wellington in future instead of at Christchurch, on tho motion of the Union Club, Christchurch, Resolutions by tho Union Club, Wanganui, and the Canterbury Club, to alter the definitiou of junior and maiden oarsmen were brought forward, and it was not to change the rule bearing on the subject, as it had not had a fair trial. The question of obtaining a distinctive ba'dge for champion crews was brought forward, and, on the motion of Mr Brandon, it was decided that a committee, consisting of the Vice-Presidents and Secretary (with power to add to their number), be appointed to put the matter in train for next meeting, by obtaining'samples of badges and all necessary information on the subject. It was resoived to nominate a crew representing the Canterbury Club for fouroared race which takes place at Sydney on the Ist December. Tho Secretary was instructed to give notice of the annual meeting which is to be held about three weekß hence. The question arose as to the regattas at which the various championship races should be rowed for the year, and it was decided to allow the matter to stand over till the annual meeting. Mr Powell brought before the meeting the matter of dispensing with “ batswing ” boats, and stated that he thought that, although the time was not yet ripe for taking action in the matter, still it was a subject whioh should come under consideration. Several members having spoken on the subject, further consideration -vas postponed indefinitely, it beiug considered that Mr Powell’s objeot was attained in having the subject ventilated. This concluded the business and the meeting adjourned.
