stable Grey, of the local police force* Who S& gallantly rescued a seaman belonging to the Naval Brigade named William Yarrow fronf diowning at the Heads on the 4th February last, being - presented’ with a-medal and diploma of tho Royal Humane Society of Australia. His Worship', said he had been asked by the Government, on behalf of his Excellency the--Governor,' to make the presentation, and it afforded him great pleasure to do so. He placed the medal on the re* cipient’s breast, and he trusted that he would live long to wear it. (Applause). ' Constable Grey thanked his Worship, and said it would always be his desire to assist a ..fellow-creature in similar circumstances. He did not rescue Yarrow because he wanted the medal, but because he could not stand by and' see a fellow-creature, drown. (Applause.) He heartily thanked them for their marks of approval.
