Considering the inclemency of the weather there was a large attendance of members at the session of the Star of Newtown Lodge, I. on Tuesday evening, under the presidency of Bro J. J. Jones, YYLC.T. Four new names were added to the roll, bringing up the number to 21 for the past quarter. Being election of officers’ night, tho business was proceeded with with all possible dispatch, keen competition being experienced in each office, the result being as follows :—YV.C.T., Bro YV. C. Cole ; YV.V.T., Sister H. Vince ; Secretary, Bro J. Y. Hogarth (re-elected); YV.F.S. and press reporter, Bro J. YV. Copithorne (reelected) ; YY 7 .T., Bro Weston (re-elected) ; YV.C., Sister E. Polonie; W.M.. Bro A. Long; W.1.G., Bro Greener; W.0.G., Bro Bnumgart. The programme for the ensuing quarter was submitted, and with one amendment was approved. The Lodge was closed at 9.50 by the Chaplain in the usual manner. Information ha 3 been received by Inspector Thomson to the effect that a foreigner named La Morte was drowßed at Castle Point on Monday evening.
