Gordon Cumming likened an African jangle to a forest of fish-hooks relieved by an occasional patch of penknives. Carpets were first introduced into England in the eighth century. Tacks lying point up in the easy chair soOp followed. From these two small beginnings has dated the riße of many a poor and obscure man.
