FASHIONS FOE SPRING ANB SUMMER, 118?. PEEVIOUS to enumerating any of the Novelties which we are now prepared to bring under the notice of our Customers, we desire to thank them for their liberal patronage of the past half-year, and beg to assure them that the system of CASH trading, which has effected such a wholesome increase in our business, will be strictly adhered to in the future. In the present day there are many who term their style of trading the “Cash System,” and in a number of instances the announcement is made by those to whom this mode of conducting their business is well-nigh impossible. v Just for a moment we will explain to you what CUE CASH SYSTEM means. It means, in the first instance, that our Mr Kirkcaldie, of London, who has been connected with us for upwards of Twenty Years, represents, in addition to ourselves, Five other large importing firms in New Zealand and Australia, and to supply these places of business, some Wholesale, others Detail. he purchases directly from the largest Manufacturers in Europe. This, in itself, is a great gain to our Customers, for it does away with the amount of profit which would under other circumstances go to the “Middleman,” or what is generally understood, “ Wholesale Warehousemen.” At the time of Purchasing he pays Cash, and thus he stands in the position to exact every concession which is due to those who purchase largely and pay promptly. It means in the second instance that we sell for ready money only ; we make no bad debts, we have no counting-house expenses, no clerks, or collectors, and all this saving is also to the advantage of our Customers. We have endeavored to place before you our System of Cash Trading, and claim that in the entirety with which we administer the true interpretation of the term, in this City to stand without a rival. In corroboration of the above we extract from our Buyer’s last letter, just to hand per S,S. Arawa, the following results of his latest experience. He says : “My Client, Mr ,of Brisbane, Queensland, who was with me, has had his eyes opened this season to the profits the Warehousemen get. He has seen, as you would, where 20 and 25 per cent has been asked by Warehousemen over makers’ prices and that by warehouses which are considered at the “top of the tree.” 1 “ The very latest instance in this way was a line of Prints I had ordered from (here we purposely suppress the manufacturer’s name), at 44d per yard. I have “ been asked again and again to buy the same thing—it is a marked line—at 5 Jd, and some houses are getting 5f d and s§d for it. You sent me Home some “ patterns of Zephyrs ; I have bought all your Zephyrs direct from the Makers at a Saving from 15 to 20 per cent, but I have had to pay prompt CASH FOE THEM.” By the S.
