The professional cricketer, J. W. Cooper, late of the East Melbourne Club, has accepted, through Mr H. F. Boyle, the wellknown Victorian cricketer, the appointment of ground bowler to the Lancaster Park Cricket Club of Christchurch. It iB understood that Mr Cooper is coming over on very reasonable terms. He is said to be an excellent bowler, with a thorough knowledge of the game. It is sincerely to be hoped, in the interests of the noble game, that some steps will be taken by Wellington cricketers to follow the example of the Southerners ; for, until some such course is taken, Wellington can never expect to hold its own at cricket.
