SEAMEN’S STRIKE.
(united press association.) Auckland, September 2. Tbs Seamen’s Union have determined to call their line of steamers which they propose establishing “ The Jubilee Steamship Company.” It is said that information has been received that the Australian Unions will join with the New Zealand bodies to provide funds for carrying on the strike, and with this end in view a levy of 2s 6d per man has been made throughout Australia and New Zealand on 23,000 seamen now in employment. This will provide a monthly income cf nearly £3OOO over and above any votes made from accumulated funds.
