The Princess of Wales and her brother, the Crown Prince of Denmark, paid a visit necently to the new convict prison at Wormwood Scrubs. They made a complete inspection of the whole establishment, visiting in succession the halls, in each of which 350 prisoners ore confined in separate cells, the baths, cookhouse, and bakehouse, and the laundry. They then witnessed the parade of the warders before coming on duty, and the assembly of the convicts in working parties previous to their moving off to the different works they are engaged in. This prison is intended to replace the prison at Millbank. The latter, which was built at the beginning of the century, cost £450,000. This prison has been constructed entirely by oonvict labor, and when completed will have cost under £90,000, the accommodation in both prisons being about ths same—namely, 1050 prisoners. Only one escape has been effected since the buildings commenced. Wormwood Scrubs prison is tho newest sample of prison design. A little girl, very much excited, rushed into the parlor, which was full of company, and exclaimed, “Mamma, just think of it 1” “ Think of what, darling ?” “ Our cat has a whole lot of twins, and 1 didn’t even know she was married.”
