MR MACARTHUR’S ADDRESS.

(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Feilding, February 9. Mr Macarthur, M. H. 11., addressed his constituents at Feilding laßt night, the Mayor being in the chair. There was a good attendance, and the speaker was well received, and made a lengthy speech, covering the questions of the Civil Service Reform Bill, Native affairs and Native Land Bill, retrenchment, Protection and Free Trade, the Railway Department, the Management of Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, and the Representation Bill. The Bpeech was generally condemnatory of the present Government, the speaker being severe on Sir Robert Stout’s false economy and Sir Julius Vogel’s bungled finance. A vote of thanks and confidence in the speaker was unanimously carried.
