New Zealand Mail Office, Thursday Evening. The only vessel which ha 3 brought cargo to Wellington during the week from any port outside the colonies is the barque Hudson, from Glasgow. Business is still quiet, with hardly any change in prices. Wine, beer, and spirits remain in ordinary demand at last week’s quotations. The prices for sugar are—Auckland No. 1. L 27 per ton; No. 2, L2o ss; No. 3, Ll 9 10s ; American granular, L 26. Liverpool salt, coarse, is quoted at 60s ; fine,. 75s ; London coarse, 65s ; fine, 80s. There is little sale for fruit, and no change in prices. Cocktail salmon is in light supply, and sells at 8s 6d ; other brands, 7a 9d to Bs. Kerosene and candles are almost unsaleable. STOCK SALES. Dunedin, February 2.. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report (per Mr D. Stronach) as follows: —114 cattle were yarded. Best bullocks brought L 8 to L 9 ; medium to good, L 6 to L 7 15s ; ordinary and light, L 3 10s to L 5 15s. Beef, 17s 6d to 20s per 1001 b. Sheep 6s to 83 ; ordinary to good, 3s 6d to 5s 9dJ; there were no merinos ; forward mutton, fd to li per lb. 650 lambs brought 4s 9d to 7s 6d each. There were 54 pigs, suckers, and baconers ; for the former, 7s to 103 6d was got ; for the latter, 25s to 30s. Christchurch, February 2. Fat bullocks brought Lsto L 6 ss; cows and heifers, L 4 to L 5 10s ; beef, 16s per 1001 b. For store cattle there was little demand, except for dairy stock. Fat sheep declined Is; best mutton bringing barely l£d per lb. Prime wethers brought 7s to 8s 6d j ewes and mixed sexes, 4s to 6s; merino wethers, 33 to ss. Store sheep were almost unsaleable. Pigs were unchanged. There was a fair demand for porkers at 14s to 193 each.
