The Wellington Garrison Amateur . Dra--matic Club gave a performance at- the Theatre Royal last night week,, in; aid of • the< instrument fund of the Garrison Band.: Unfortunately, the attendance of the public was. not so large as the object of the entertain-. ment and the efforts of the performers de--served. The piece performed was MessrsAyres and Blake’s three.actcomedy “Hisowm Guest. With the exception of one or: twohitches the amateurs acquitted themselves very creditably. The members -of the Clubwere assisted iu this performance by. Miss; Georgina Smithson, an actress of - some repute, who .performed the character: of Lady Meredith in a satisfactory manner. - The young lady who appeared as Edith ia specially deserving of a word: of praise. The-other lady who played Mary was also* very good. Mr G. Anderson as Captain Gordon, MivE. Staples as Coloneli Shooter, and Mr J. Speed as Win. Peningfcou,. played very well. The audience,-■.though:small-,, waa appreciative; and frequently applauded the performers.
