NATIVE LAND COURT AT WAITARA.

(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Waitara, December S.

The Native Land Court opened here under Judge Wilson to-day. The eases which came before the Court were applications to succeed to property of deceased persons. There are 192 cases on the list, including some . applications . for subdivisions. These latter will not be taken until after the former have been concluded. This is the first sitting of a Court to adjudicate on confiscated lands which have been reserved to Natives* A Supplementary Gazette will shortly be issued, and the Court will adjourn to Nevr Plymouth in January, if not sooner. Great inconvenience is felt by reason of the documents connected with the lands under investigation being in New Plymouth, aud many claimants come into Court without a particle of documentary evidence to show that the persons whom they wish to succeed were the real owners of the land they claim. The fees of the Court are muck lighter than hitherto. • , •
