SAD ACCIDENT.

(united press association.) Russell, November 25.

A sad accident has occurred at Kawakawa. Two men, a father and son, named Ross, were working at a contract job let by the Bay of Islands County Council to R. Farrar, at Kawakawa. While the two men were excavating some earth out of a hole, the son being at work below, some earth fell upon the poor lad, completely burying him. On extricating him from the debris it was found that his thigh was broken, the spinal cord at the back of his neck severed, and his head much bruised. Death must have been instantaneous. An inquest was held yesterday, and the jury found a verdict of accidental death.
