The second annual show under the auspices of the above Association was held yesterday week, and proved a decided success. The severe thunderstorm of Tuesday, followed the next day by continuous rain, prevented some of the entries from distant parts of the country from coming in. That, however, only applied to some descriptions of sheep and cattle. Perhaps the leading feature •£ the sfyow was the grand display of team and plough horses. Many a horse fair in the Old Country would be a long way behind-the display of yesterday. Agricultural implements occupied a large space of ground, Messrs P.. and D. Duncan, who exhibited through their agent, Mr E. McEwan, being the chief prize takers. Mr J. Hessey, for a small farmer,, showed a better collection of agricultural implements than could be found on many a larger estate, and he may be termed a model farmer. There was a grand show of buggies and oarts, Messrs Muir and Dixon being the principal prize-winners for really first-class vehicles. In fat cattle, Mr W. Perry took all firat prizes, and would have done so doubtless had the competition been greater. Mr Bramley in Ayrshires, and Mr Stuckey in Herefords, had the most numerous exhibits. In sheep, Mr C. Meredith-Kaye took champion prize for best Lincoln in the yard with a splendid ram he recently brought from Christchurch, Mr Raynor taking second with a ram bred by Mr J. B. Sutton; Mr W. B. Allen took champion prize in Romney. Marsh with a ram bred by Mr A. Matthews ; and in merinos Mr A. Clifton took champion prize with a ram bred by Messrs Riddiford and Son. The attendance on the ground must have exceeded 2000 people, and the usual sports and “Cheap Jacks” kept things lively. The stewards worked well, and got through their arduous duties in a satisfactory manner. The, secretary, Mr R. J. Fitton, gave every assistance to the Press representatives, for which he deserves their thanks. The following is the list of prizes : . HORSES.
