WELLINGTON COLLEGE ATHLETIC SPORTS.

The annual sports in connection with the Wellington College took place at the Basin Reserve on Monday, and were highly successful. The weather wa3 delightful and contributed in no small degree to the pleasure of the outing and the general success of the sports. The attendance was very large, the presence of a great number of ladies being a notable feature. The following gentlemen assisted in carrying out the sports : —Mr P. P. Webb, starter ; Mr J. Collins, secretary ; and Messrs Heine and Evans, judges. Committee (beside the Masters) —Messrs Colbeck, Ginders, Murphy, Hume, Morrah, and Kemble. The various events on the programme, which was a somewhat lengthy one, were run off with very commendable punctuality, the last event being finished before half-past 5. Duncan, 3 points. Winner of Cup, W. Mackay. The different events were well contested, and the keen finishes of most of the races showed that the handicappers had done their work well. Altogether, the sports may be classed amongst the most successful of the season.
