“ facetious FESTIVITIES."

To give single-handed an evening’s entertainment is a task which carries with_ it, in these days of good companies and fastidious taste 3, a considerable amount of responsibility, and calls for the exercise of a great deal of confidence, with ability of that class known as versatility. Mr J . D. Foley, who undertakes this task in the shape of an entertainment alliteratively termed “Facetious Festivities,” possesses the qualities essential to success in this line ; and his performance at the Athenaeum Hall last evening week was one of the best of its class we have had in Welling, ton. Mr Foley made his debut before a Wellingten audience, and, in the course of a couple of hoars, impersonates all sorts and conditions of characters, male and female ; is in rapid succession a German, an Irishman, a Chinaman, and a blushing bride ; gives an excellent ventriloquial exhibition ; plays tunes with remarkable skill on bottles, and generally behaves himself in a manner irresistibly funny. His changes are quite as quick as were those of Maccabe, arid the performance as a whole is a capital one, affording an excellent two hours’ entertainment. Mr Foley is entirely unassisted except by a pianist. “ Facetious Festivities” is a bright little entertainment which should be well patronised.
