SERIOUS FIRE.

(united press association.) Nelson, November 8.

The stables at the Turf Hotel, Stoke, were burnt down early this morning. They contained Mr Thos. Harley’s racehorses Marquis and Good Friday. The former was burnt to death, and the latter was seriously injured. Both were to take part in a country meeting to be held to-morrow.
